MAJOR DUTIES: * Transport and deliver freight over long distances in a safe, efficient, timely and legal manner. * Hook and unhook trailers: secure freight; install and remove tire chains as required by weather; tarp and untarp freight if appropriate. * Load and unload trailers and perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of freight. (Most loads utilize fork lifts). * Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain records required under State and Federal laws and regulations. * Ensure that all operations are in compliance with State and Federal laws and Regulations. * Represent Longwall West Inc. and the Trucking Industry in a professional manner. QUALIFICATIONS: * Valid Commercial Driver's License. (2 year verifiable experience) * Tractor Trailer - Class A Straight Truck - Class B Pickup - Class D * Knowledge of all applicable DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. * Meet all medical and safety standards required by the DOT and pass required drug/alcohol test. * Able to be away from home for extended periods of time, (90%+ trips home nightly) * Available for around-the-clock dispatch, and able to remain alert while driving for periods of up to 11 hours. * Able to squat, crouch and reach as needed to handle freight; able to enter and exit the vehicle's cab numerous times each day. * Able to frequently carry freight from 1 to 125 lbs. * Able to install and remove tire chains, hook and unhook trailers, secure freight. * Able to handle special equipment including chains, straps, tarps, tie downs, etc. |
